As one of two Academic Advisors in the Dean's office, some of my work includes: Helping develop, review, enforce, and document curricular requirements and academic regulations for both campus-based and online programs and students; assisting annually with degree-plan updates and program changes which manifest in the University Bulletin; serving as a Drupal web-editor for Bulletin updates and other web-presences; assisting in the coordination of fall, spring, and summer course-schedules with Student Records and the academic departments; training faculty and staff on mainframe procedures, and resolving issues for and with same; training faculty, staff, and students to utilize OnCourse and U-Achieve degree-tracking software, as well as resolving issues for and with same; researching and articulating transfer credits for prospective students, and posting transfer and study-abroad credits for current students; assisting with on-boarding for traditional and online students; participating in summer and year-round advising, retention, and persistence initiatives; preparing student schedules, and participating in Orientation; identifying candidates for alternate degree-plans, then transitioning and advising same; processing changes of major, minor, 2nd majors and minors, and program substitutions; coordinating dual-diplomas with other colleges; reviewing and approving cross-enrollment requests, requests to take summer classes at other schools, and study-abroad course-selection; coordinating student awards and the Honors convocation along with the rest of the Dean's team; auditing students' records and recommending successful candidates for certification of graduation.
