The Science show for the students at the Samuel J. Green charter school was an excellent experience for both the volunteering Loyola students as well as the school kids. Douglas, Cameron, Riley, Jessie, and Ilyes, all physics students helped with the event.
Someday soon, smart phones could be charged in a pocket using only body heat to power up the devices. Even sooner, rocket sensors needed to monitor an engine’s health while launching it into space could feature sensors powered solely by the heat generated from the rocket.
Stella von Meer has been accepted to a PhD program in Dynamical Neuroscience at UC Santa Barbara. Stella graduated from Loyola with a major in Physics in 2007 and in 2010 she earned a M.Sc. degree in Medical Neuroscience from Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, Germany.
Prof. Armin Kargol collaborates on research problems in computational biophysics with members of the Quantum Biology group at the Catholic University of Brescia, Italy. Recently, a new scientific paper, co-authored also by scientists from Sisse, Trieste, and from Tulane, appeared in Phys. Rev. E.
Dr. Katja Schaefer from the department of physics publishes a single author article in Journal of Physics A.
David Vumbaco has been accepted to an Interdisciplinary PhD program in Neuroscience at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.
Physics student receives award for best poster presentation at Louisiana Academy of Sciences meeting
Douglas Alexander, a Physics junior, received an award for best undergraduate poster presentation in Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science category at the 87th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences held on March 9, 2013 at Grambling State University.

William J. Duhe (Physics '13) was invited to present his research on developing cyclic models of the early universe, conducted with Prof. Tirthabir Biswas, at the International Conference of Physics Students 2012 (ICPS) in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from August 4th to the 10th.
