Janet R. Matthews joined the Department of Psychology in 1984. She received her BA degree with honors in sociology from the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida, her MS in clinical psychology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.  She completed her clinical predoctoral internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and did her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical and neuropsychological assessment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She has held numerous professional offices including serving as chair of the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, president of the Southwestern Psychological Association, president of both the division of teaching and the division of state provincial, & territorial psychological association affairs of the American Psychological Association, and member of the Board of Directors of both the American Psychological Association.
