Classical Studies alumna Allison Belcher does archaeology internship

Alumna Allison Belcher (Environmental Studies and Classical Studies, '20) did a nine-month internship focused on underwater archaeology with the Sint Eustatius Center for Archaeological Research (SECAR).

Of the internship, Belcher says, "During my time, I participated in several excavations, including the excavation of human remains.  I helped inform the local government how best to deal with historical sites and found funding for future excavations. I became skilled at identifying artifacts based on design and ware type.  The skills I learned during my time have set me on the path to call myself an archaeologist."
