Achievements

Dr. Mark Gossiaux has recently presented two papers in Medieval Philosophy at separate conferences, one paper on James of Viterbo and the other on Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus.

Andrew Albert, a Philosophy major at Loyola, has won a prestigious Fulbright Summer Institute scholarship to study at Newcastle University.

Maria Rossi, English Literature and Philosophy Pre-Law student was presented at graduation with the Ignatian Award for Outstanding Senior Woman. Maria received a Bachelor of Arts degree with University Honors. Congratulations, Maria!

Calvin Monley, English Writing and Philosophy student was presented at graduation with the Ignatian Award for Outstanding Senior Man. Calvin received a Bachelor of Arts degree with University Honors. Congratulations, Calvin!

Philosophy major, Rebekah Locke, recently presented a paper,"What is the Good: An Examination and Comparison of Plato's and G.E. Moore's Theories of the Good" at the Undergraduate Philosophy Conference sponsored by Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.

The Philosophy Department offers its eligible majors an opportunity to complete their degree programs with departmental honors by writing an Honors Thesis in their senior year.

Adrienne Williams Haines (B.A., philosophy, cum laude, 1997, Loyola University) completed her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 2000.  Licensed to practice law in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, Adrienne has practiced in the areas of corporate law and toxic tort liability defense.  Additionally, she served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in Orleans offenses.  Adrienne is currently a trial attorney for Progressive Casualty Insurance Group and resides in Lakeview with her husband, Joseph, and dog, Izzy.

Jennifer Gibilterra received her bachelors of arts in Philosophy and Economics from Loyola in 1993.  With over fifteen years of business and managerial experience, Jennifer is Senior Vice President and National Business Development Officer at Nexity Bank in Atlanta.  Prior to that, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank both in New Orleans and in Atlanta, eventually holding the position of Assistant Vice President.  During that time, Jennifer was selected to participate in two executive development programs, one at Harvard Business School and the other at Columbia University.

Paul Primeaux received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Philosophy from Loyola and a Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Medicine.  He completed his Internship and his Residency at Tulane Medical School.  He is Associate Medical Director of the Tulane Center for the Advanced Medical Simulation and Team Training, Director of Abdominal Transplant Anesthesia, and Residency Program Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at Tulane Medical Center.
