Achievements

Anthony Ladd, Professor of Sociology and Kathleen Fitzgerald, Visiting Associate Professor of Sociology, organized and co-moderated a series of films on New Orleans entitled: "Deconstructing New Orleans Through Film: Race, Class, and Culture in the Cresent City" at the annual meetings of the Association for Humanist Sociology, New Orleans, LA, November 12th - 15th.

Dr. Angel Parham has had an article entitled "Internet, Place, and Public Sphere in Diaspora Communities" published in the journal Diaspora, 14[2/3]: 349-380.

Anthony E. Ladd, Ph.D. presented a paper, "Impacts of Katrina on New Orleans University Students and Faculty" at the annual meetings of the Society for Cross-Cultual Reseach, February 21-23, 2008, in New Orleans, La.

Dr. Anthony E. Ladd, professor of sociology, was awarded the Excellence in Research Award for the College of Social Sciences for 2009. Dr. Ladd recently published a review in a 2009 issue of the journal Environmental History.

Vesna Milojevic, sociology major, has been chosen as a DAAD ambassador to Germany for 2009 - 2010

Sociology faculty member Angel Parham presented her research entitled, "Race, Memory, and Family History" at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.

Daniel J. Kimball, LCSW, '92, presently lives in Lafayette, LA where he conducts his private practice in Clinical Social Work at the Lafayette Psychology Center. 

Julie Hayden Maloney '86, chief executive officer of a national consulting company, recently published her second book, Blueprint to Success, a book to help guide women in the workforce in improving their careers.

Professor Kondkar was awarded a Marquette Faculty Fellowship for the Summer of 2009 for his research, “Intimate Partner Homicide: Exploring the Relationship between Race, Gender, Law and Violence."
